Launched in 2000 by a team of experienced Direct Marketing professionals EDR combines the best of traditional data and digital marketing. EDR began life as an email list owner and manager and by 2005 was the UK's largest buyer of B2C email data. In November 2005, EDR became a subsidiary of TMN PLC and divested its owned and managed lists to TMN Media to focus on digital data planning and buying for some of the UK's largest DM companies.

In an industry where agencies have struggled with the many and varied challenges of acquisition email EDR have developed a framework to run effective and scalable email campaign that removes the volatility, reduces risk and delivers consistently strong performance. Since EDR's inception building databases and collecting leads online has been a core service. In June 2007 EDR launched Pure Lead a proprietary technology that facilitates the set-up, end-to-end management and optimisation of lead generation campaigns.
